Cleaning my Nose

Seija works at the salon, so of course, she likes me to try some of the services they do there. I thought for sure this was going to hurt and was ready for multiple boogers to follow the hair that was about to be ripped out of my nose.

Help the Hoarders!

This is how we are starting to feel in our basement apartment!  We thought of the smart idea to start buying furniture, electronics, tools etc. to furnish a home instead of buying it all at once and racking up the bill! Who ever thought trying to find a house to purchase would be such a pain in the a@#$!  At first, we were having a lot of fun and thought we would be able to find something we liked fast and move in right after...ha, guess again.!  We have multiple offers on short-sales that will go through when hell freezes over and everything else sells so fast we don't even have time to go look at them!  Needless to say, our apartment is chuck-full of nice things still boxed up and wrapped in plastic just waiting for an offer to be accepted. Oh it's suckin.  Do you have a lawn mower in your bedroom?...cuz we do ;)

New Year's aint no party

January 1st.  The beginning of a new year is awesome, but let's be honest, new year's celebrations always suck. I know the dude has some health issues, but dear Dick Clark: Old age and waaaaaayyy too much botox makes it hard to understand you brother! We mostly just sit around with friends and impatiently try to stay awake until the "glorious" ball drops in New York.  At that moment, I let out a yelp, drink my half cup of sparkling apple cider and find the closest bed I can crawl in and slip into a coma.  What is the deal?! Since being married we are more than ready to go to bed at 10.  High School days we were still running around at 2 am no problem. Feeling old is suckin.
Also, there is one New Year's resolution that just kills me: Everyone and their dog want to "get in shape" beginning of the year. Gym memberships skyrocket in January and I end up just getting pissed at the the idiots taking space at the gym that have no idea what they are doing.  Mid February the weenies start to weed out and go back to playing World of Warcraft for 6 hours a day instead of the gym. This makes me happy :) Patience until then.

Mustazzoli @ Nana's

Nana & Aunt Diane taught us this year how to make an Italian dessert: Mustazzoli. Let me tell you, when you get two old Italian sisters in the kitchen cooking together, all hell breaks loose! Two hours and lots of cuss words later.....our mustazzoli was finished!

 Here is a simple recipe:

Mustazzoli-Honey Bread
5 eggs
1 1/2 c. water
4 tsp. baking powder
3 c. honey
flour

Combine all ingredients except flour in a bowl and beat for 3-4 min. until fluffy.  Start adding flour and mix until it thickens and start kneading.  Once the dough has been kneaded, roll into small loaves.  Bake in oven about 25 min. or until light brown on 325 deg.

Living the Christmas Spirit

I have always loved Christmas, but my love for the season and it's meaning has evolved over time. When I was very young, the only thing I looked forward to was a visit from Santa and holiday break from school.  Now, Christmas has a much deeper meaning and purpose.
Usually for gifts, our siblings draw names to determine who will be buying gifts for which person. This year, my sister had the motivating idea to put our time and money to something much more meaningful.  We decided to do a service project and cook breakfast for those families currently staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Salt Lake City. 
The Ronald McDonald house is a "home-away-from-home" for families to stay at while their children are being treated for life-threatening diseases or injury at Primary Childrens and other surrounding hospitals.  They house over 1,800 families annually and depend heavily on charitable donations and volunteer support.  http://www.rmhslc.org/
This was a great experience for our family and in many ways, much more satisfying than receiving simple gifts from each other.  It causes me to think of the love our Savior Jesus Christ has for us and the true reason we celebrate Christmas: His love, His life and His birth.
